The bags are packed.....

I have been trying all week to get ready for our Friday departure. However, in the last five hours I have packed enough clothes for us to consider changing our residency to Washington, DC. Cold weather clothes, warm weather clothes, shoes for this, Easter clothes. I am exhausted and this "vacation" has not even begun.

I have to thank my mother, a chronic ironer (is that a word?) for helping. Thanks to her, we will be sharply pressed for Easter morning!! (By the way, she offered to help. She probably won't do that again.)

Really I am very excited. I think this is going to be a really cool trip. The boys can't even imagine the neat things we are going to do and see. All of the monuments and memorials and buildings are so grand that pictures just don't do them justice.

Whit and I have read a children's guide to DC and he has quite a list of things he wants to do. It was his interest that sparked this trip in the first place. He has such a curious mind. I know he is going to have a blast.

I couldn't sleep last night, and tonight I am pretty wired again. That' s okay. I have about ten hours in the car tomorrow to sleep. I am sure I will enjoy peace and harmony for the 600 miles we will travel.

My nephew, Ander, has been in town visiting this week during his spring break. He is six and he probably has as much an idea as where we're going as Haden. He told his mom that he wanted to go with us to visit America.

Haden on the other hand has gone through phases of really not wanting to go on this trip. He would rather stay and go turkey hunting. However his Daddy solved this issue. He has told him that there are all sorts of hunting stores in DC. So now he's ok with the trip. I hope for Jody's sake that we run across one somewhere or we will have one disappointed little boy. Oh, and the duck boats. He wants to ride the boats that turn into land vehicles.

So now I am off to bed. We'll be up again in a few hours loading what seems like all of our worldly possessions and hitting the road.

That's all for now!
